I thought you wanted to remove unwanted SSID's from the list and remove the ability to automatically connect. this sounds like you want to restrict access and only list the network you want to connect to (delete the unwanted ones that may already be in the list). instructions depend on whether XP or Vista.

With my old R40, I would automatically connect to whatever wireless service was the most available--even if I didn't want to. Wouldn't VISTA manage the wireless connectivity? You can certainly nuke Access Connections...I personally don't like care for that program - while keeping everything else IBM / Lenovo

Why can't Vista remember a wireless network it has used before and automatically connect if that network does not broadcast its ssid? Sorry, but I haven't come across that yet. Vista: Hibernate vs Shutdown.
I can still manage to connect to my previous wifi connections that i have saved up and set them to automatically connect when they are available...but i can't detect/add new ones. Come to think of it, even my existing connections don't show up. Not even public wifi hotspots show up. I'm currently on Vista Business
